A medical and health information resource containing a database of health articles and reference materials, including an excellent health encyclopedia. 1Up Health has extensive information from trusted sources on over 4,000 topics including diseases, tests, symptoms, injuries, surgeries, nutrition, poisons, and special topics. There is also focus on family and community health and the site is updated daily.

American Psychiatric Association
A scientific and professional organization of clinical and research psychiatrists, this group provides referrals and some free materials and publishes clinical-practice guidelines. Offers a free mental illness awareness guide for the media that includes fact sheets on various mental illnesses.

American Psychological Association
A scientific and professional organization of clinical and research psychologists, this group has chapters nationwide and provides referrals and some free materials. Offers an excellent directory of experts to reporters.

CenterWatch – Clinical Trials Listing Service™
One kind find information related to clinical trials, such as a listing of more than 41,000 industry- and government-sponsored clinical trials as well as new drug therapies. The trials are listed by medical areas. A “Drug Directory” helps to find “Drugs Currently in Clinical Research”, “Drugs Approved by the FDA” and “New Medical Therapies Weekly Trial Results”. The “Research Center Profile Pages” provide detailed profiles of clinical research centers.

eMedicine Health
eMedicine Health offers consumer health information on the symptoms and treatment of nearly every type of disease and health condition, first aid procedures for accidents and injuries and more.

EurekAlert!
EurekAlert! is produced by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). It offers daily E-mail notices for reporters and editors only. One is a list of scientific research papers; you have to agree to honor the embargo.

Health Behavior News Service
This is a site containing free stories and issue briefs on the connection between behavior and health, drawn from 30 peer-reviewed journals and produced by a team of independent journalists.
